Carte Blanche cancels tour to France and takes internal measures in the face of COVID-19

Carte Blanche, The Norwegian National Company of Contemporary Dance, cancels next week’s long planned tour to France. The company was scheduled to perform at the Theatre National de La Danse Chaillot in Paris and at Theatre Jean Vilar i Vitry–sur-Seine.

– We are very sad not to able to travel to France and perform in these venues. The Theatre national de la danse – Chaillot is one of the most important and prestigious theatre for dance and we were very much looking forward to presenting our work there.
We are in dialog with the director and we hope to come back later, says artistic director Annabelle Bonnéry.

The company’s performances in the Norwegian Opera and Ballet in Oslo this week were also canceled as measure to reduce the spread of the Corona virus.

In addition to canceling the France tour, Carte Blanche will now take a number of steps to limit potential infection.
All employees will work from home for 14 days, starting today and meetings and other activities will be limited during this period. A new assessment on future activity will be made on Friday 27 March.

– Everyone must take responsibility for a joint effort to delay the infection as much as we can. The most important thing now is to help the health care system to take care of its tasks and not be overburdened. We have therefore chosen these measures, even though we do not currently know of infection internally in Carte Blanche, says general manager Tone Tjemsland.
