22 May See «Get Lost» from 2018 online
In 2018, Carte Blanche premiered “Get Lost” by Belgian dance artist & choreographer Pieter Ampe who brought along an artistic team consisting of ,amongst others, his own brother Jakob Ampe with whom he guested the stage of Studio Bergen in 2013 with “Jake & Pete’s Big Reconciliation Attempt for the Disputes from the Past” a performance brimming with warmth, madness and delicate musical moments, traits that seem to characterize his artistry. Ampe has become frequent sight in Norway and a friend of Bergen wherehas been to several times as part of BIT Teatergarasjens programs in later years.
“Get Lost” is a candy bag of a performance that unfortunately was never toured outside the largest cities in Norway. Aftenposten’s reviewer Maren Ørstavik perhaps best described the performance: “Here is humor, absurdities, kaleidoscope light shows and acrobatics, broken up by dancers singing shanties, American folk songs and choir song. It evokes a tender hurt. We laugh. The juxtaposition of the ugly, the uncertain and the beautiful gives a well-functioning poetic expression to the whole. ”
As a bonus to go with this performance we have created a podcast episode where Pieter Ampe and Carte Blanche dancers Caroline Eckly and Timothy Bartlett give you an insight into the work and thoughts behind the performance.
