Norwegian national dance company

Journal

We have moved into Sentralbadet Scenekunsthus!

Last week was the first week the entire company set foot in our new home, Sentralbadet Scenekunsthus. It feels slightly unreal to be walking through the corridors of a building that, for so long, seemed like a distant dream.

This autumn will be different. The new building will be tested and furnished, and together with our new housemates, Bergen International Theater, we will begin charting a course towards a new future full of endless possibilities.

At the same time, plans are under way for a spectacular opening in March 2027. We began by filming material for our opening performance by Meg Stuart, while the exceptionally talented Stian Servoss shot the promotional images for the production.

While we settle into this fantastic new building, there will also be plenty of touring. In fact, our first tour stop is tomorrow! The dancers and technicians are already in Geneva, where we are taking part in La Bâtie-Festival de Genève with “HOW ROMANTIC” by Katerina Andreou.

“HOW ROMANTIC” will also tour to Barcelona, Tarbes, Toulouse, Roma, Le Havre and Gennevilliers. Later this autumn, we will take our 2025 Bergen International Festival production, “CANCEL BERTHA” by Jan Martens, to Caen in France and Ljubljana in Slovenia.

In Norway, we will visit Dansens Hus in Oslo, where we will perform this year’s Bergen International Festival production, “UNCHAINED MELODY” by Mette Ingvartsen, as part of the Ultima Oslo Contemporary Music Festival from 17 to 20 September. We will present the same production at Stavanger Concert Hall on 30 September.

All of this is happening while we work hard to establish new systems, learn which doors lead to the toilets, locate the printer, find the network password and figure out the quickest routes to and from the stages.

In other words, it is going to be an eventful autumn. We can’t wait!
