We’re off for the summer

After an intense and eventful spring, we’re taking a summer break. Studio Bergen has been filled with dance, song, sweat, silence, laughter, guests, and new creations – and the company has toured from north to south in Norway, and on to stages across Europe.
In February, we performed BIRGET; Ways to deal, ways to heal by Elle Sofe Sara and Joar Nango in Alta and in Kautokeino – the latter on the Sámi National Day, making for a powerful and memorable experience.
March began with the world premiere of HOW ROMANTIC by Katerina Andreou, a work inspired by the dance marathons of the 1930s. After the Bergen run, the performance was also shared with audiences at The Norwegian National Opera & Ballet in Oslo.
We also took MONUMENT 0.10: THE LIVING MONUMENT by Eszter Salamon on tour to Brussels and Paris – in collaboration with Kaaitheater, Charleroi Danse, and Chaillot – Théâtre national de la Danse.
In May, we had the pleasure of premiering CANCEL BERTHA by Jan Martens during the Bergen International Festival – a tightly composed evening of dance where movement, stillness, and rhythm took center stage.
We ended the season outdoors with SOVACO DE COBRA by Lander Patrick, performed at Festival Italicá in Seville – in a Roman amphitheatre, with warm winds and a buzzing audience.
Thank you for a fantastic season. We’ll be back after the summer break, with new projects and new movement, from August 11!
