Irene Vesterhus Theisen

Irene Vesterhus Theisen (1987) comes from Kristiansand and is a graduate of Copenhagen Contemporary Dance School and the Oslo National Academy of the Arts (2010).
Her artistic work spans a wide range of expressions including curation and organizational work, creative practices, in addition to her main activity as a dancer.

Irene is the co-founder and curator of the Ravnedans festival for Contemporary Dance, which was established in 2010 in Kristiansand. She is also a board member of the competence center Scenekunst Sør. For Ice Hot 2022, she is co-curator in collaboration with Samme Raeymaekers on behalf of Dansens Hus Oslo.

Irene has worked as a dancer in Carte Blanche since 2013, under artistic directors Bruno Heynderickx, Hooman Sharifi and  Annabelle Bonnéry.

Ongoing collaborations include choreographers and groups such as Harald Beharie / Louis Schou, Marie Bergby Handeland, Signe Becker / Ingvild Langgård, Janne-Camilla Lyster and the group behind the group work We Come In Peace; Floen / Theisen / Johannesdottir / Lauvdal / Helgebostad. In addition, she is an avid member of the handbell band Ula Metall. Other important partners are dancers Marianne Kjærsund and Ingrid Haakstad.
