Naomi Schouten

Naomi Schouten (b. 2001) is a Dutch dance artist and performer. From a young age, she was moved by music and performing.

At an early age, she started dancing street dance and hip hop, and at age 10 she started the pre-education of the Dance Academy at ArtEZ. Later, she got her diploma from the bachelor of Dancer/Maker at ArtEZ University of the Arts, where her love for dancing and improvisation got space to grow.

During her time at ArtEZ, she had the chance to work with different choreographers such as Maciej Kuźmiński, Caroline Finn, Keren Levi and Astrid Boons amongst others.

In addition, she was part of Roots Youth Folk Company in 2015 and she worked and performed with Blackbirds 2 (2021-2022) led by Dalton Jansen. Naomi also danced with Cullberg (2022-2023) where she performed pieces by Jefta van Dinther, Alma Söderberg, Halla Ólafsdóttir and practiced Deborah Hays work.

Next to dancing, she also enjoys to create pieces herself. In 2022 she created a duet called ‘’have a seat’’ which won the Audience Award of Café Theater Festival Arnhem in 2022 and performed it in different venues in the Netherlands.

Naomi started working in Carte Blanche in August 2023 as an apprentice.
