What is Contact Improvisation?
Contact improvisation is a dance practice that focuses on interaction through physical contact. It explores movement and emphasizes active presence, relationships with others, trust, and creativity.
What will you experience in the workshop?
The beauty of contact improvisation is that its fundamental elements are concepts most people are already familiar with. No special skills are needed to join this workshop! If you can lean on someone, offer a little support, or help someone steady themselves – you’re already prepared to participate!
The class is taught by a dancer from Carte Blanche with extensive experience both on stage and in workshop settings. The instructor leads a group warm-up. The class then guides participants through contact improvisation techniques, such as falls and landings, lifts, and throws, to name a few—all with a focus on safety and development.
Carte Blanche has an international working environment. The class is English.
Who is this for?
Everyone is welcome, regardless of skill level or experience. Please come in comfortable training clothes and bring a water bottle.
Are you interested in exploring free movement, building body awareness, and building trust through collaboration? A contact improvisation class gives you the opportunity for creative expression, physical exercise, and being present in the moment while becoming part of an open and inclusive community.
