Rehearsals of “But Then, We’ll Disappear (I’d Prefer Not To)” are underway

The rehearsals for "But Then, We'll Disappear (I'd Prefer Not To)" are underway! The performance, which was postponed for a whole year due to Covid-19, premieres 4 June during the Bergen International Festival.

Saved by the exemption scheme

Choreographer Frédérick Gravel and choreography assistant Jamie Wright were two of the first artists to come to Norway under the new exemption scheme. The production, which originally was supposed to premiere in May 2020, for a long time was in danger of being canceled this year as well.

Fortunately, the entry scheme made it possible for Carte Blanche to have the world premiere during the Bergen International Festival this year. Gravel’s arrival in Bergen was covered in the local press by Bergens Tidende og Bergensavisen.

Canadian Frédérick Gravel is known for turning the structures of choreography upside down and often includes elements of rock and performance art in his expression. His background is from the vibrant arts community in Montreal, and he has established himself as one of the foremost exponents of the new, Canadian dance art.
