POSITION OPEN: Rehearsal Director, Full-time position

Carte Blanche is the Norwegian national company of contemporary dance. The company is located in Bergen and tours both nationally and internationally. It employs 32 people and has a total budget of approximately 50 million Norwegian kroner.

Carte Blanche has a small and flexible administration, with employees from diverse cultural and national backgrounds.

The company currently has the following position available with a deadline for applications on March 4th:

REHEARSAL DIRECTOR, Full-time position

 

The rehearsal director is part of the company’s leader group team and producer team. The rehearsal director have personnel responsibility for the company’s 14 dancers and serve as the artistic deputy for the artistic director.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to realizing the artistic vision of the artistic director and Carte Blanche’s goals
  • Responsible for overseeing the dance-related aspects of CB’s repertoire, as well as providing professional advice to the artistic director
  • Professionally responsible for the dancers’ daily class and other competence development
  • Lead and organize the dancers’ work with the company’s repertoire
  • Assistant to guest choreographers
  • Artistic responsibility during tours and guest performances
  • Responsible for video documentation for re-staging and archives
  • Maintain dialogue with the company’s health team

 

Qualifications:

  • Strong artistic and dance background
  • Experience in personnel management and administrative work
  • Experience as a rehearsal director or equivalent
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English, preferably also a Scandinavian language
  • Good collaboration skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a structured manner
  • Ability to work in a team
